What is reinsurance?

Reinsurance is a type of title insurance that allows you to protect your investment. With reinsurance, the title insurer covers the entire loan or sale amount and then utilizes another title insurance company to insure them, giving you the ultimate in protection.

Reinsurance is not an additional charge, it is handled by the original title insurance company and is deducted from the title fees. For larger transactions, it may be possible to have both reinsurance and coinsurance to spread liability across several underwriters.
