What is coinsurance?

Coinsurance covers your investment when two or more different underwriters insure the contract through separate title insurance policies. You may need to utilize coinsurance in cases where the insuring company may only allow insurance for a part of the total price, requiring another company to insure the rest of the loan or sale amount.
